Nanban Movie Review

Nanban - Remake of  " Three Idiots"

Now before I start writing about the movie , those who watched the hindi version will obviosuly sulk , honestly i did not like the tamil version and i know how Aamir Khan adds substance to the film. But hey,  when you are in for a remake you should understand that there is not much you can change in the script except the laguage  and the jokes .

Nanban i think has proved to be the comeback film for Vijay . Vijay is a great actor ( lets accept it ..the man has 50 movies to his credit ) . In every scene we can see that he is putting in his effort . Understand that it is difficult to replace AAMIR khan even in a remake . I mean Aamir Khan is a great actor and Vijay has done justice to the role . Though i think that Vijay has tried to mimic Aamirs emotions but it wouldn'e be wrong to call that he has hit the bullseye in the expressions department . The youthful , care-free and charismatic attitude that was seen in Aamir has been aptly carried on by Vijay in Nanban also. Vijay did the same youthful one in Sachin but this one goes beyond ( i mean the expressions are more mature and mix with the script ) .

And in-fact it is only after " Friends - tamil movie " has vijay actually acted with equally good actors by his side . Sri Kanth did his part and Jeeva was stupendous . Now enough of trying to justify Vijay and his thalaivar qualities . The movies has been well COPIED i would say since every single frame was recreated from the original . The college building in the movie was rocking and i couldn;t stop admiring the lush green campus . I wonder where they got one suhc campus in the first place .The ooty roads they show in the movie is not Ooty by the way . The BALATKAR comedy was outstanding kudos to Satyan he does his part really well but he comes dressed in G-string undies too much ( man he did shave a lot i guess ...)  . But face it the KALAVI in place of KALVI was not very great . Sathyaraj proves yet again that he is great at anything . Yet i think Bomans thick tongue dialogues did not sound great with sathyaraj . But the 4 strands of hair based hairstyle was just great thinking . The marriage comedy with Ileanas introduction was messed up . I wonder why she came in with no goggles ( considering the nerdy character she was playing ..instead she looked hot )   . Ileana is a total waste in the movie . Right from her intro i kind of had the feeling they tried to make it a bit to commercial . And who ever gave her the voice should kill themselves. It was damn MASCULINE and it sounded as if the dubbing artist had some kind of constipation during dubbing. Ileanas expressions did not go with the voice . Shankar erred here like never before .

Now coming to the songs. " En friend pola yaaru machan " is an amazing track but it is a direct lift from the "CHENNAI SUPER KINGS" title song . And Harris Jayaraj thought he can hide everything in his Rahman type hair-do . Asku Asku song was at a place where a song was not needed . But liked the Belly..olli belly song . Shankar showed " ANNIYAN - Kumari " "Sivaji- Sahana" "Sivaji- Sunlight" songs in this one song . I am not sure if many noticed it but i kind of felt that was an amazing thought to mock his own creations . And the clap boards had the titles " Modern Song " and other such stuff.
That was some creativity in action .

Overall Vijay , Shankar , Jeeva , Sri Kanth , Satyan and the dhobi boy ( from Vijay TVs dance program ) were outstanding and they made the film memorable . If you are a  first timer you will love "NANBAN" but if you are the "3 idiots" fan i would seriously suggest dropping any pre-conceived notions  . The movie is worth a try . It would be no wonder if the movie turns out to be a blockbuster given the hype being created around it . Vijay is back and i expect to see him more in the coming films . Vijay!!!!.... enough of masala man , you are actually very talented ,do an offbeat movie once a while and  you will be a superstar soon .

Sometimes the biggest loss can the biggest power in life

Wanted to share this exciting story i read in THE HINDU Young world paper 10 years back .

An one armed street sweeper in China spends his day time sweeping the streets of china. In the night he works at a monastery where students are taught Karate. The boy secretly watches the moves and practices everyday idolising the students.

One day the Chief monk watches  the little boy practice. The boy is removed from the monastery for secretly practising Karate .But he pleads the master and begs to be taught Karate. The monk accepts the boy with a condition that he will do whatever he is asked and not ask any questions .The master teaches him only one kick , a high rise kick to the opponents face and is asked to practice the same . Years pass by but he is always asked to practice the same move over and over . The boy always asks this question " Why this same old Kick and how many times should i practise it ? ". But since the master told him to do so he never questioned back . Then comes a tournament which is held in the town to select the best fighters of all. All students at the monastery are excited and line up for the tournament . The next day the boy sees that his name has been suggested by the Chief monk himself .

Bewildered the boy steps upto the monk and for the first time questions his entry because he thinks he will never return alive. The monk maintains silence and commands him to participate .

Amazingly at the tournament all his opponents fall for the single kick hes mastered.   He reaches the final and knocks-out the strongest oppoent and the master of last year . The boy runs to his school and now the monk explains the secret to him .The monk tell him that  the only way to defend that kick is to grab the enemies arm which the boy doesn't have  .

Moral:Sometimes in life the biggest loss can be your biggest power . Persistence and hard work can really make a difference .

 Unleash the power in you

This goes for my Team

I've been thinking for a long time about writing this post . I thought twice then thrice then ....... stopped thinking at all . Many would call this post a well written one but thats not the point of this post nor is it destined to win som hearts . But hey theres got to be a day where you just have to blurt it out . I LOVE MY TEAM .

Perhaps if you have noticed that I am part of one of the best teams on campus . Hi all I am Kameswaran Nagaraj of the Information Technology Team @ SIBM Pune 2010. It gives me a sense of proudness and my heart is brimming with pride when  I talk about the team . May be its because that its the only decision that turned out to be good for me  , the first one being SIBM Pune .

I joined the team i the Junior tenure with the team consisting of some biggies in IT .

Shwaytaj - The man who wields the baton when it comes to ORGANISED CRIME :)
Sheena - The creative mind at its work - Man shes got awesome creative skills
Amit - The jugad master of the team - One man who can make things work out for the team
Rahul - Co-ordinator saab the cool mid at work financially

And the last but definitely the best one - KAPIL THAKUR - I know its thanki but i prefer calling him that - If someones never seen team work in action please step into the team room and see Kapil at work you will figure it out .

No its not the ghost ... its Sheena :P
He is just figuring out how to get his laptop back from Sheena :P

SOMETIMES ITS GOOD TO BE IN THE COMPANY OF GOOD PEOPLE

Now lets talk about how i have benefited from the team and how the team has benefited from my particiaption . I ended up in SIBM Pune just because some other guy kicked out the option of SIBM Pune on his wishlist . I was selected in the first round because of a revaluation , so thank you revaluation . First semester was a confused time in all . Firstly my HINDI is PATHETIC ( Ramit , Samar and Kapil - thank you for the reminders ) . I was the CR who was as confused as Baba Ramdev in Oprah show . But hey I had good friends who helped me . Thank you Division C it was the best learning experience that i could ever ask for in life . IT team members( Super Seniors ) were the most cordial and friendly seniors on campus .

LtoR - Vikrant , Vivek , Mayank and Tushar

I met Vivek( Subbu as we prefer to call him )in Chennai meet . He was the best mentor that one could ever ask for . He knew exactly what each of us was ( he calls it Confucius stuff )  . In short the Super Seniors recruited Gladiators for the team ( yeah! we drew swords )  . All of the current members were stalwarts and the most famous personalities on campus. One other Senior member who effected my way of thinking was MAYANK. Mayank is someone whom i can never forget for the learning habit that he imbibed in me . Mayank was a thinker - some think , but he thinks the impact of a thought process . He was a strategiest and a perfect gentleman . Now thats too much of praise for the seniors ??? Wait until i introduce you to Vikrant Sharma and Tushar Kanade . Vikrant as you all know is the most known KILLER MAN in the seniors . You just want to listen to his speech in the team room . Tushar is the uber cool team mate always there for any kind of support.

As for the learning part you should have figured my learning by now :P .

And for all who think that being in a team is just waste of time just think of the benefits .

Before joining IT TEAM
I was a faffer but i rarely opened up in class.
I was not serious about anything in life
I preferred to keep my doubts to myself

After joining IT TEAM
I am still a faffer - PROOF - the extensive use of cotton ear plugs by my classmates
I am seriuos about lot of things now - including technology and iinovation
I doubt if i will ever doubt again - ITS ALL IN THE OPEN now

...lets say enough of faffing for now :)

But lastly i managed a 2.7 last semester compared to my barely batch average CGPA in the first semester

Aisha - Powerpuff girl - Movie review

Yuck !!! this is the feeling i felt after watching the movie "AISHA baby goes shopping " . I mean the movie is more stereotyped for the fashionable women for whom the following is more of an obsession

1.) Bitching
2.) colored clothes cut from picnic tents
3.) Drinking alcohol like it was milk
4.) Discrediting the hard working
5.) Jobless
6.) Money is just plain paper

Oh ! man I wonder if there are people like Aisha in the world today. So damn lazy life and so damn brainless women. I really pity the father character in the movie , but an excellent performance i must say . But i must give credit to the fashion designer i must say an awesome job . For a girly , weirdy movie like Aisha the designer has spent time in choosing the clothes to mix with the character.

Some really impressive designer wear i noticed in the movie are below

I really like the Diwali night party dress . It mixed with the occassion but again mixed well with the character depicting how bubbly sonam is . The shot were Abahy deol comes in with the white sherwani is jsut awesome . IF you have noticed the shot was aimed at Sonam facing abhay and abhay facing down ( both had white tops - Soanms white blouse and his white sherwani ) - An excellent mix of cinematography and fashion .

Hats off to the designer and the cameraman(maybe he is a SHE )

Another scene where i think the designer was slightly weird was the Animal Care centre scene wher eAisha and her friends discuss about a wesbsite and Pinky just shuttles out .

Don't kid me this is a evening wear for evening parties . I think the designer went with the fact that it was outdoor and wanted something fresh looking. Though I am not convinced by the choice i think it fits the frame.

Now another design factor that stands out is Abhay deols wardrobe. Simply outstanding stuff . I mean it really depicts a cool Businessman with some brains up there when compared to Aishas top floor on rent type . The movie in whole essence triest to blend this subtleness in every bit. Aisha is a no brains and all hear character. By the movie i get to understand that there are more out there.

But hey its a great movie . Its tough to act DUMB and Sonam Kapoor ( though i think she is dumb too :P ) has done a reasonably good job. I hope the producers got their money back ( oh i forgot the money was from sisters piggy bank :) : )  )

one last funny scene with crazy clothes ....

The scene where Aisha and her elder sister show the baby to their father and Maasi over the webcam ..note that Aisha i wearing a white gown with hearts all over it ... and the funny part her back opening is in the shape of a heart too.... i couldn't stop laughing here ... But i really liked the movie ..it was rich with music , colors ..Brains ( :P )  and i enjoyed it ..so i give 4 stars ( on a max of 5 stars )

Anil bhai .... mangaye aapke bachein dimak waleh hain ... waiting for a more brainy and colorful movie

Another Sania Mirza in the making ?????

Sports and its fantasies have always amazed the ordinary.Well I am ordinary and I am amazed not by the sheer galore but by the resounding success of the sportspersons and their games off the grass. First it was Sania Mirza who apart from her great looks and mediocre TENNIS SKILLS shot to limelight. Then she continued or they the media continued the story with Shorab which ended with the BOZO captain from PAKISTAN. Phew ! now who is to be blamed . Yup its the media as usual. Just saw PEEPLI live and what a reality that the movie brings to the normal mind.Well it was difficult to follow the dialogues for a southy guy like me but hey the concept was driven home clearly. We all talk of things happening now , yesterday ...that might happen tomorrow but no one ver asks for the credibility of the news . Well thats how the media is. One amazing story that is making noise is the SAINA NEHWAL succcess story or lets say the story that will be of importance in the near future. I hope SAINA NEHWAL doesn't end up like Sania Mirza . Supposedly there was a news that a pan masal was launched in Pakistan by her name . Well that is what tennis means to the pakistanis i guess . Bunch of corrupted minds running a nation like it is the card games that kids play.

Well lemme get to the point here. For many who might not know who Saina Nehwal is here is a small excerpt of her achievements.Saina Nehwal - The achiever

Like I said I am so proud of the Indian Sports personalities. But again I am pretty irritated by some calling SANIA MIRZA a sportsperson .Had i been the sports minister i would have kicked her out of the sports long time back.Have you seen her play her game?? shes  so damn slow. And if you haven't noticed she jsut kept getting plumper day by day and tennis is a serious sport which demands fitness . I never understood why the auhtorities were so blind and the weight scales never showed her real pounds(May be she paid some extra pounds :P ) . Comparably Saina Nehwal is a serious sportswoman.I have noticed from her press releases and her interviews ,  she has her goals set and is ever working hard to achive the same.Pulela Gopichand is her trainer and i believe that under his training Saina is to achive greater heights. But i think again the media is using Saina just like the PAN MASALA BHABI from pakistan. If you understand what I am talking then look below

Is this required Doesn't this digress from the whole point. Saina is a budding Badminton player , a more energetic kind who is devoted to her sport but why does the media bother her so much when they have the Rakhi Sawants , Katrina kaif and the others . Let her continue her game . Please it takes time to create a player like Saina. Stay Away media let the devoted devote themselves to their devotion . You have better things(dirty) to talk about .

I killed the Attitude

Attitude  - a complex mental state involving beliefs and feelings and values and dispositions to act in certain ways; "he had the attitude that work was fun"

This is  what google throws up once I search for the definition of attitude.Well the real question here is "Is google showing some attitude to the user?".Sounds funny ? well yeah.If you are someone serious  reading this post please make sure you bundle up your attitude for a couple of minutes cos I am gonna tell you all how i killed my attitude , slow and a painful death .But in the process i managed to grow something in me so great and powerful that i think I AM at least HUMAN now.

Attitude according to me is carrying a self perception or an image of things(people, situations). Its pre-conceived and is mostly backed by surreal images. But all the way why is this guy talking about an attitude.Amazed ,look back think of all those comments you or some of your friends have received regarding their attitude . One general comment that MBA students give out is "Hes got an attitude problem that is why he thinks he is smart ". Well if you figure in the receiving end of the comment then i think its time you take my post a bit seriously.

I always carried an attitude about me being the smartest and the brightest.I virtually wanted to know everything. In the process is did something unconsciously and amazingly unaware.I hurt my friends and those surrounding me (including my parents). When you carry an attitude or a mental image of what you want to be then the problem starts there. You tend to believe that you are the best and often will validate your comments and actions instead of just listening to others. All that matters in building the right attitude is to just listen to someone. Its said that the greatest speakers i the world are the best listeners. If you do not build the attitude to listen forget about the attitude part , you will not even manage to be human. Is life all about stinging others for the sake of an attitude.End of the day an attitude is never a real one right ,  its mostly surreal then why have so many crazy images in the Hard disk up there.Let go of these images and perceptions in life.Open up your mind stay healthy have a positive attitude.

This is juts a thought.I killed my attitude and now i have a whole new positive energy in my life.Things in life come and go but people are the most important asset in a persons life.It is ultimately for these relations that your remain half the human you are.You can earn enough money to buy assets but you will never earn enough to buy those honest people that you always dreamed of bein in your life.
